The potential risk of water ingress when using a standard (non IP67) rated connector is significant when there is no protection from rain and humidity (where the connector integrates into the housing).
Look below the surface
Many lower-cost manufacturers try to simply eliminate this risk by fitting a rubber washer … this is unlikely to remain watertight for the long-term and especially in harsh outdoor conditions. Through professional IP67 reliability testing conditions these connectors will generally fail.
Sealing is the essence
At GTT Wireless, our connectors are specifically designed to accommodate the rubber washer ensuring it is uniformly compressed across the whole surface area giving total reliability in the field. Eliminating snagging or gripping seals is the key to long term reliability. Regardless of the connector type, N type, SMA, RPSMA or FME (and either front-lock or rear-lock design), we have an IP67 solution. All designed with reliability built in as demonstrated below.
