It’s always reassuring when a customer calls to say your product performed ‘exactly as intended’ under real-world pressure.
At GTT Wireless, quality, resilience, and reliability are in our DNA, even when faced with the most unstable and unpredictable environments that weather can throw at us. Husense, a valued customer and solutions provider utilising our AC mSmart-box® enclosure, had installed three units on an overhead gantry as part of a demonstration setup for a defence project. Husense develops radar sensors for tracking people movement, and for outdoor deployments they use the GTT Wireless AC enclosure. The system was designed to operate continuously in a demanding outdoor environment.
On the 24th of October 2025, during Storm Benjamin – which the KNMI, (Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute), had issued a code orange weather warning with wind gusts of up to 120 km/h – a sudden gust of wind caused the overhead gantry structure at the demonstration site in the Netherlands to fall over, bringing the entire setup crashing to the ground.
Despite the severity of the event and the complete failure of the mounting infrastructure, all three radar devices housed within the GTT Wireless AC enclosures remained fully intact. As the gantry collapsed, it fell directly on top of the AC enclosures, meaning the sensors inside had to withstand the full weight and impact load of the falling structure.
Post-incident inspections confirmed that all three devices were fully operational, with all sensors functioning correctly and no loss of calibration or performance. This demonstrates the enclosure’s robust design, effective shock mitigation, and resilience to extreme environmental conditions.
